OR meets Scrum
September 1st 2011 was the day the Works Council of ABN AMRO (OR) met Scrum. A group of 50 works council members gathered at Dialogues House to participate in a Scrum Workshop organized by Dialogues Incubator and Dialogues Technology; it was literally a Full (Dialogues) House.
The workshop consisted of a theoretical base with a practical topping; a short but informative introduction into Scrum with a couple of case studies. Next, the theoretical knowledge was converted into challenging teambuilding games. After splitting up the complete group into small teams of 6-8 people, the members showed a lot of perseverance and dedication. The house was brimming with energy, let alone balloons and paper hats.
Above all, it was a fruitful day where the participants became acquainted with an innovative way of working on projects, that might give them more flexibility and speed in the future. Aside from that, the workshop showed the interesting possibilities of Scrum for the Works Council and it proved that Scrum can be suitable for projects of any level and background (both IT and Business projects). At the moment, Dialogues Incubator’s Timo Mulder acts as a Scrum Coach for a recently initiated project of the Works Council. Erik Slotboom currently coaches outside parties like C1000 with their implementation of Scrum.
Have we made you curious about the workshop? Watch the short movie below (made by Herman de Brave) or make an appointment for a workshop with your own department.
